✎ Added by your host This is an IKEA TINAD integrated fridge-freezer — temperature's already set correctly, so there's no need to adjust it. The front edge of the cabinet feels slightly warm sometimes; that's a built-in anti-condensation heater, not a fault.

Not cold enough

  1. Check the door is closing fully — nothing (a jar, a bag) wedged in the seal, and it clicks shut rather than resting ajar.
  2. Check nothing inside is pressed right up against the back wall, blocking the air vents.
  3. Find the button marked C on the control panel and press it — this cycles the temperature setting, shown by a row of small green lights. All the way toward Low is the coldest; press it a couple of times to move that direction.
  4. If food was just added in a large batch, give it a few hours — a fresh, large load naturally warms the inside temporarily while it all cools down.

Freezer very frosty or icy

A light dusting of frost on the back wall is completely normal. Heavy ice building up and covering shelves is the kind that's worth flagging.

  1. Check the freezer door is closing fully and nothing is wedged in the seal — a door left slightly open is the most common cause of heavy ice buildup.
  2. If it's just a light, even frost on the back wall, that's normal — no action needed.
  3. If ice has built up thickly enough to block a shelf or drawer, this needs a full manual defrost — food moved out, power off, and time for the ice to melt. That's more involved than a quick fix, so it's best handled by your host rather than mid-stay.

Water pooling inside

The fridge compartment defrosts itself automatically — droplets running down the back wall are normal. A puddle collecting at the bottom usually means the small drain channel is blocked.

  1. Look at the back wall of the fridge compartment, near the bottom by the crisper drawers, for a small drain hole or channel.
  2. Gently clear it with a cotton bud or the tip of a thin object — food debris commonly blocks this small opening.
  3. Wipe up the standing water and check again after a few hours.

Light flashing on the panel

There are two different flashing patterns on this fridge, and they mean very different things.
  1. If the interior light is flashing: this is just a door alarm, meaning a door was left open too long. Check both doors are pushed fully closed — the light should stop within a minute.
  2. If one of the small green temperature lights is flashing continuously and pressing the C button doesn't change it: that's a genuine fault, not something to fix by hand.
A temperature light stuck flashing usually means a technical fault — message your host rather than unplugging or resetting anything, so food inside isn't put at risk.

There's been a power cut

Here's what actually matters if the power's gone out, even briefly.

  • Keep both doors closed as much as possible — that alone preserves the cold for hours.
  • Once power's back, it'll resume on its own — no buttons to press or settings to redo.
Food safety matters here: if anything in the freezer has even partially thawed, please don't refreeze it — plan to use it within 24 hours, or it's safer to bin it. If the outage was long, let your host know so they can check on things.
