This is an IKEA RENODLAD built-in dishwasher — salt and rinse aid are already topped up, so you shouldn’t need to add anything. One tip: no need to pre-rinse dishes before loading, a little grease on them actually helps it run smoothly.
Won’t start
This is almost always one of three things: power, the door, or a delayed start that’s already been set.
- Check the plug is pushed fully into the socket, and that the switch on the socket (if there is one) is on.
- Push the door firmly closed until it clicks — it needs to latch, not just sit shut. A dishwasher won’t start with the door even slightly ajar.
- Look at the display for a countdown or clock symbol — that means a delayed start is set. Press the same button again (or the start button) to cancel it and begin right away.
- If it’s completely dark, check the fuse box / circuit breaker for the kitchen hasn’t tripped.

Water leaking underneath
Please don’t run it again until this is checked — a repeated leak can point to a fault that needs a professional. Internal repairs aren’t something to attempt.
- Open the door and check nothing (a bit of cutlery, a plastic lid) has fallen into the door seal, propping it slightly open during the cycle.
- Check that tall items inside — a large pan, a tray — aren’t pressing against the door and stopping it from closing flush.
- Wipe up the water and start a short cycle if you’d like to test it, standing by to stop it if the leak returns.
Did that fix it, and it’s not leaking anymore?

Water left in the bottom
This is usually the filter at the bottom of the tub needing a clean, or the drain hose being kinked.
- Open the door and find the round filter in the floor of the tub (twist to unlock, it usually turns anti-clockwise). Lift it out and rinse it under the tap, clearing off any food debris.
- While it’s out, check the sump underneath isn’t blocked, then click the filter back in and turn it to lock.
- If the dishwasher shares a drain with the kitchen sink, check the sink itself is draining normally — a blocked sink can back up into the dishwasher.
- Check the flexible drain hose at the back of the machine (if visible) isn’t kinked or pinched.

Dishes not coming out clean
- No need to pre-rinse before loading — a little grease actually helps the machine’s pump. Just scrape off large scraps.
- Don’t overload it — dishes touching or nested inside each other block the water from reaching every surface.
- Check the spray arms (the rotating arms at the bottom, and middle if there is one) can turn freely and their little holes aren’t blocked by a stray piece of cutlery.
- Make sure a detergent tablet or pod was actually placed in the dispenser before starting, not just left loose in the bottom.

Beeping or a flashing light
The “Program Complete” light flashing is this machine’s way of pointing at a specific problem: flashing once means a water-supply issue, flashing twice means a drainage issue.
- If it’s beeping with “30” on the display: check the door is fully closed and latched, and that nothing is blocking it from sealing.
- If the light is flashing once: this points to water not coming in — check the water valve or tap under the sink (if you can see it) is turned on, and that the inlet hose isn’t kinked.
- If the light is flashing twice: this points to drainage — see the “Water left in the bottom” guide from the main menu for the filter-cleaning steps.
If you see a code on the display rather than just a flashing light, or the machine seems to have stopped mid-cycle with standing water and won’t respond — turn off the water supply if you can find it and message your host rather than repeating the cycle. That combination usually means a flood-protection trip, which needs a technician.
